Purpose: Our 3in tooling/fingers for PHD Pneumatic Gripper are specifically developed for machine-tending tasks, and are ideal for advanced manufacturing, robotic research, packaging and palletizing applications. It adapts to the object’s shape by the use of customized finger pads for a solid and safe grip, thereby providing greater flexibility and more reliability to grip or grasp different kinds of parts or materials. These heavy-duty pneumatic fingers with interchangeable gripping pads ensure precise and reliable gripping in various applications. This ensures a high level of machine up time and high returns from production and assembly applications.
To protect operators and conform to safety standards for operator–machine contacts, this heavy duty collaborative finger/effector design allows multi-sensor flexibility to be integrated to detect external impact forces, objects entering center of finger group, and more.
The finger pads are designed to be modular (Not Included). This means the end user only has to change the individual pads on each effector rather than the whole end-effector assembly. This proven design not only reduces changeover time and set-up costs between automation jobs, but improves operational efficiency and expenses as well as minimizes waste. A reduction in changeover time increases output, reduces inventory, and improves responsiveness to production demands.
TESTING: Given the clamping force of 25 lbs applied to each finger, and the gravitational loads and contact associated with a 4” long 1.125” diameter bronze bar, the numerical simulation predicts a peak stress in the finger of 1.105 KSI. When compared to the 68 KSI minimum Yield Strength of the raw 7075-T6 aluminum material, we calculate a factor of safety (F.O.S) of 61.8. Indicating that the applied loads are approximately 1/60th of those which would result in permanent deformation to the system.
